- PublicationPara los pájaros(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2019-03-26) Martínez Ballester, José Juan; Dpto. de Escultura; Facultad de Bellas Artes; Grupo de Laboratorio de Creaciones Intermedia. LCI[EN] We establish here an analogy between various artistic creations not aimed at being perceived by human beings, but rather by other animals, extraterrestrial beings or even deities. Also, the authorship of these creations is not made by professionals from the art world, but from other branches of knowledge such as agriculture or astronomy, or simply gestated in an amateur way.
[EN] The present text addresses the distinction between the sign and the symbol and its dramatic consequences in the society of information. The origin of the symbol is briefly traced to delimit a diffuse definition that all ows, within the aesthetic terrain, the benefit of the renovating and inexhaustible capacity of sense as opposed to the immediate connection of the obvious. Thus, symbolist art gives way to the symbolic experience, that is, an experience of unification where spaces of comprehension can be reopened without the negation of the hide aspects of reality, and from the ineffable the world can be reorganized without reaching to exhaust its multiple sense.

- PublicationPrototyp_ome. [EN] Throughout 2015 and 2017 Prototy_ome has taken place in Hangar. An inter(in)disciplinary project with a collaborative format based on the bio(info)technology Do it yourself [DIY] and Do it together [DIT]. In collaboration with Pechblenda Lab, the Biomedical Research Park of Barcelona, DIYBioBcn, Faboratory and subsidized by the Nina Caruso Foundation, Protoyp_ome has brought together artists, scientists, (bio)hackers, makers, theorists and different social groups to revisit, re-think, co-design and develop biological exploration processes, tools and technologies, especially those related to biomedicine. From the premise of the collaboration, Prototyp_ome has brought together a hybrid team, covering different skills and knowledge around their laboratories, as well as the communities that are generated in these common spaces. The inter(in)disciplinariness as a condition of possibility of the collaborative production of knowledge (s) has opened a crack from which to take as a starting point the perspective of the user, putting this to the historical articulation, in terms of hierarchy, of the institutions and disciplines recognized as the only generators of valid knowledge. In this shared process, artistic research has not only played a fundamental role but has made possible a work where experimentation has displaced quantitative parameters, configuring forms of contact-experience from which to re-think the relationships that mediate bodies, working from the co-implicación of matter and form, generating processes of cross-sectional constitution that open the possibility of articulating, other links and other ways of operating.
[EN] Artistic interventions in buildings made by Gordon Matta-Clark in 70’s are a constant source of critical interpretations for the particular nature of its shaping. It is possible to consider these building cutsmade by Matta-Clark as “any-space-whatevers” (Gilles Deleuze). For that the present article presents the concept of “paracinema”, developed by Esperanza Collado, by which diverse artistic practices can be performed as cinematographic experiences external to its specific medium, by employing in them processes and concepts of the cinematographic device by other external means. The concept of “paracinema” works as a mediator between the idea of “ritornelo” -artistic creation of a territory (Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari)-and “any-space-whatevers”, empty and disconnected spaces that, presented in cinematographic images , are able to generate "time-images" or “direct time presentations”. In this way, the artistic interventions in buildings, because of their condition of paracinematic “any-space-whatevers”, could produce localized “time-images” in place.
- PublicationDe las figuras sintéticas(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2019-03-26) Adsuara, Alberto[EN] Analysis of the synthetic image and the intentions of its producers with the abandonment of the usual recognition channels of artistic circuits. What seems to interest the new creators of synthetic images is no longer reality and its possible dislocation, but the very end of that reality, its end, its disappearance. In order to replace reality with "something else", they resort, paradoxically, to a perceptive / representative paradigm that seemed to be periled, hyper-realism. Only in this case it is a hyperrealism of the non-existent, a fantastic hyperrealism, and they do so devoid of any critical-commitment and devoid of any anguish, anguis that disappeared with the definitive replacement of Metaphysics by Technology (in the Digital Age).
[EN] This onto-aesthtetics article investigates the new categorial relationship that emerges with the advent of post-contemporary art, showing that contemporary art has been overtaken due to the death of the ironic category, around which all contemporary art revolved. Whereas, in the history of humanity the Modern age begins with the circumvallation of the Earth and the Contemporary age end swith Duchamp's Fountine, the post-contemporary one can be fixed around 2004, with the appearance of Web 2.0 and the flat screens of our smartphones, that bring us back to a flat Earth, like those screens that rule us. With the support of the History of Philosophy, from the Archaic to the Contemporary of the Flat Ontology, the new post-contemporary categorical axis is defined and to be characterised as beautiful not corny, or kitsch.
- PublicationDesvelando el tiempo. Martín Vitaliti y la soledad secuencial(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2019-03-26) Tarancón Royo, Héctor[EN] Since its beginning, mass culture had a huge acceptance by the public, but it was ignored by the academic studies. Seen as something superficial and alienating for the individual, artistic movements like pop or cultural facts like comic or TV shows haven’t been analyzed as formal elements until these last decades. The newest disciplines, such as visual studies, cultural studies, studies of genre or of linguistics, when increasing their object of research have observed the critical and ideological potential of these ways of expression. Thus, from an interdisciplinary approach, the present article focuses on the work of the Argentinian Martín Vitaliti about the superhero and his epic temporality, the conflict between his feelings and his compromiso, and the formal sequentiality inside the comic. Conceived as a fragmented story which mixes his appropiation strategies of omission, replay and distinction, images are available for different interpretations and references; this is acknowledged by Vitaliti who presents this issue in his works and who uses them as a way to solve different problems related with the image.
[EN] The present investigation intends to generate through a documentary and phenomenological analysis an aesthetic approach that helps to understand the artistic practices developed in Augmented Reality in the public space, specifically in Snapchat's Art Around You project. Through the review of experiences by social actors and the positions of experts, the different aesthetic categories will be compared with the purpose of obtaining the necessary findings for the construction of the approach.
[EN] This work is a study of memory as a specific domain that arises from a specific perceptual problem: access to the world through the sensory channel of sight. It is preceded by two stages of investigation. At this third stage, the "real" is addressed as a result or solution to the problem. The methodology has been constructed from the interpretation of Schnell’s project of anthropological phenomenology that proposes a definition of man as "Homo imaginans". It is carried out an operation of reflection with respect to the results that we had obtained until now. The way to the "real" is formulated as the one that would solve the psychic device called up during the "making of images".The characteristics and temporalities of memory are analyzed regarding visual function and consciousness.
