[EN] The adaptation of fairy tales allows stories to be kept alive over time. Nowadays, it can also be a tool of Japanization by allowing elements of Japanese culture to be introduced into originally Western stories. This research explores that use of fairy tale adaptation through an analysis of the anime Belle, based on the classic story Beauty and the Beast. Through a comparative analysis with Disney's popular animated version, the most relevant divergences between the two works have been identified. Thus, it has been shown how Belle introduces specific concepts and ideas that allow us to approach a specific imaginary about Japan and its culture.
[EN] The works of the Disney Studios have been widely critisized from its inception. The filmography of the “Factory” has received both attacks and praise from every direction, and its creators —especially its founder— have been accused of defending diverse political principles under the camouflage of their films’ naivety. In most cases, this criticism has relied on simple intuition and ideological prejudice. The aim of the present analysis is approaching the first animated feature film produced by the Disney Studios so as to characterize the process carried out by the Company’s creative staff when rewriting a popular tale by The Brothers Grimm. The narratologic study of the operations taken will try to detect whether, in this case, there was a hidden agenda in Disney activity or rewriting responded to less militant goals.
[EN] This paper approaches to the Japanese animation series Hamefura (Keisuke Inoue, 2020), adapting a series of light novels by the author Yamaguchi Satoru, which narrates the adventures of Catarina Claes and her rebirth in a new world based on an otome game called Fortune Lover. We will carry out a definition of these games as well as the isekai genre, in which the series is framed, and then we will do a complete analysis of the loans and characteristics of this type of games that are represented in the first season of Hamefura, highlighting the outstanding nature of this adaptation that has little to do with what has been done so far in relation to these visual novels.
