- PublicationApuntes...sobre el Estadio de Braga(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2012-04-29) Merí de la Maza, Ricardo[EN] The football stadium in Braga is one of the most complex and important architectural buildings made in concrete in recent years. It is a key milestone in the development of the works by architect Eduardo Souto de Moura, recently recognized with the Pritzker award for Architecture. A work in which urban-scale operations are mixed with the precision of the details that visually forms it, it was the result of an extremely complex process as well as interesting.
- PublicationArquitectura para el deporte: el estadio(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2012-04-29) Cruz, Antonio; Ortiz, Antonio[EN] The title of this paper could have been a question: Is it possible to defi ne some characteristics of sports architecture? We will try by looking at three classical aspects: the function, the construction and the shape and we will focus on a sporting type par excellence, the stadium.
- PublicationCampos para el deporte(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2012-04-29) Tuset, Juan J.[EN] When Adolf Loos and Le Corbusier presented the theoretical framework of the modern city as a longing to return to the fi eld and stop the proclamations of putting an end to streets and replacing them with parks, the sports culture had already started as an unstoppable expansion in modern societies. In this reformist context that promulgated fi lling the city with nature, the popular park in Germany (Volkspark) established a complementary view of nature in the places where modern man should find themselves. Sports fi elds envisioned a precise form for the green areas of the city where popular sport skips the geometry imposed by architecture to attach itself to the free outer space of nature for the sole purpose of restoring in men a forgotten common culture.
- PublicationCape Town Stadium en Ciudad del Cabo. Sudáfrica(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2012-04-29) Volkwin Marg y Hubert Nienhoff, Arquitectos[EN] The skyline of Cape Town is dominated by Table Mountain, Signal Hill and the Atlantic Ocean. Cape Town Stadium forms a landmark at the foot of Signal Hill, and fi ts respectfully into its environment. The challenge was to create a standalone building in this unique location that enriches rather than mars the world “famous picture” postcard setting.
- PublicationCentro deportivo e Instituto en Marsella. Francia(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2012-04-29) Jérôme Apack, Arquitecto[EN] The aim of the program was constructing a gymnasium and outdoor beach-volley practice grounds inside the plot of the technical high school René Caillié in Marseilles. Located nearby a motorway, a little river runs along the slope, and makes it liable to fl ooding. On the eastern part of the building, a new 20 meters wide urban boulevard will cross a great part of the plot, and will drive to destruction an ancient “bastide” (Marseilles soap industrialist big summertime house). All those constraints and the plot form led us to implant the building and the sports centre on the southern limit. The project works with parallel programmatic stripes pointing from north to south.
- PublicationComplejo acuático para los IX Juegos Panamericanos en Medellín. Colombia(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2012-04-29) Paisajes Emergentes, Arquitectos[EN] The Aquatic Complex for Pan American Games of Medellín 2010 Paisajes Emergentes - Luis Callejas, Edgar Mazo and Sebastian Mejia is developed in two signifi cant phases: the competition phase and the design and construction phase. We will take advantage of the available documentation on both phases to refl ect on the quality of the produced space and the distance between imagining and building.
- PublicationComplejo deportivo municipal Can Ricart en Barcelona. España(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2012-04-29) Vora Arquitectura, Arquitectos[EN] The Can Ricart Municipal Sports Complex is a building located in the heart of the southern part of Raval in Barcelona which has become in recent years an important area for actions. The fi tting out of the area is important for the revitalization of the neighborhood in the traditionally more degraded sector and must contribute to the integration of all social sectors in the area for the local residents through their use in sport and wellness activities.
- PublicationEquipamiento deportivo y cultural en Saint Jean sur Veyle, Ródano-Alpes. Francia(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2012-04-29) Hervé Regnault, Arquitecto[EN] The sports and cultural centre built in Saint Jean sur Veyle welcomes team sports, martial arts and dance classes. The project fi ts in line towards the end of a fi eld, away from the village, in order to get the new building easily noticed from all access roads. The building’s composition of volumes is simple and deliberate.
- PublicationEstadio de fútbol en Custóias, Matosinhos. Portugal(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2012-04-29) Guilherme Machado Vaz, Arquitecto[EN] This Project tries to harmonize the natural slope of the ground with the big leveled platform of the sport fi eld with 9000sqm. The best solution was to place this platform in an intermediate level, allowing to create a fl oor below the soccer fi eld where all the facilities are located and to use the ground outside to create a garden which kind of closes the outside space.
- Publication"Mae d'água" o del traducir el Estadio de Braga(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2012-04-29) Nozza, Carlo[EN] The collaboration of architects in a project reaches similar dimensions to that of the translator of literary works, who must interpret the author’s thoughts and desires beyond the automatic transfer to paper. The architectural principles on which the work of the Braga stadium are based on, is fundamental for understanding it and shape the conceptual imagination that architect Eduardo Souto de Moura works with.
- PublicationPabellón de deportes Sport Hall Ka Hiel en Bruselas. Bélgica(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2012-04-29) Scholengroep Brussel, Arquitectos[EN] The school-site KA Hiel acts as a green space in an urban context. The campus area features great differences in height as well as much diversity in buildings and pavilions. The constructions at the edges of the building block vary from attached houses to high solitary apartment buildings.
- PublicationPiscinas municipales de Povoaçao en Sao Miguel, Azores. Portugal(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2012-04-29) Barbosa & Guimarães, Arquitectos[EN] The village of Povoação is located on the Archipelago of the Azores, on the southern edge of the island of S. Miguel. Protected from the sea by a slope, the building is going to occupy a plot comprised of a flat, rectangular platform already prepared and used by the Municipal Council for other outdoor sports activities. This platform was achieved by «sacrificing» the slope, imposing a cut that distorts its natural volume.
