Reactivación participativa del espacio público. Estudios de caso en Valencia y Madrid
(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2017-06-09) Ruiz Gallego, Rosaura
[EN] This work aims to understand the phenomenon of what we have propose to call "participatory reactivation of public space", which is characterized by the direct participation of citizens in the creation and management of social and cultural activities in public spaces, as part of a general will to reclaim that space as truly "public", where the citizens have power in the decision-making processes. This movement has been reinforced by the establishment of professional collectives and initiatives from public institutions. Seven case studies of organizations from Valencia and Madridwere conducted, in the form of semi-structured in-depth interviews,in order to define the shared characteristics, the sustainability of the professional collectives and the role of culture and cultural management in this phenomenon.

The second part describes, in a chronological order, the flag drag celebration, the characters of this religious festivity (priostes, almasantas, cucuruchos, etc.) and the symbols (cauda, hat, key). Finally, the research practically relates the two parts into an intangible heritage registration document, based on the reference model developed by the Instituto Nacional de Patrimonio Cultural (INPC).

[EN] Cultural manager as a professional activity developed in Spain from the end of the 80s and during the decade of the 90s of last century. Its development was a consequence of the proliferation of services and public cultural infrastructure, mainly related to local administrations. During the last decades and often using associations as a professional base, cultural managers have been able to create a common criteria that works as a professional frame from which to develop their activities. This article aims to analyze to what extend this professional frame is now consolidated. It also aims to overlook the professional status of the generation of cultural managers that developed that frame, in comparison with the new professionals that have been incorporated into the realm of cultural management. Finally a set of brief notes pointing to the development of the cultural management profession in the near future is also presented.
