[EN] The present work arises as a consequence of the current situation that is being experienced worldwide due to COVID 19 and the repercussions it has had on households, especially in the adaptation to new forms of work and teaching, affecting social, economic and cultural aspects. The pandemic has hit the poor and vulnerable hardest, and could push millions more people into poverty, especially in Latin American countries. In this context, in Ecuador, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, extreme poverty is likely to increase dramatically. The study focuses on the application of different multivariate techniques, such as, Discriminant Analysis, Cluster Analysis and ROC curve,to develop a multidimensional poverty index based on non-monetary household resources such as equipment and basic services. With the combined use of the proposed techniques, an indicator was obtained that can serve as a tool for measuring the factors that can affect extreme poverty in Ecuador and it can be used to introduce continuous improvement actions in the resource assigments.

Development and Validation of an E-Learning Education Model in the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Case Study in Secondary Education
(MDPI AG, 2022-10) Martínez Gómez, Mónica; Bustamante García, Eliseo; Berna Escriche, César; Facultad de Administración y Dirección de Empresas; Dpto. de Estadística e Investigación Operativa Aplicadas y Calidad; Instituto Universitario de Investigación de Ingeniería Energética; Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería Industrial; Centro de Gestión de la Calidad y del Cambio
[EN] E-learning was crucial during the global lockdown. In this way, this article aims to propose and validate a holistic framework in which all the E-learning services are needed to ensure their effective implementation and use. To this end, an original 3S-T model, to measure E-learning success based on self-student assessment, was developed. This innovative model, which reinforces the existing theoretical framework of models, identifies a wide array of success predictors and relates them to various measures that help to reach success, including learning and academic achievements. The validation of the 3S-T model was carried out using the partial least squares structural regression equations modeling technique (PLS-SEM). In this analysis, four major constructors were identified as determinants of E-learning service performance, namely, the surrounding conditions, system characteristics, tutor's development and student's own performance. Although each of them is composed of several subcategories, finally, 15 indicators that estimate the fulfillment of these factors were defined and evaluated. The present study is strongly connected to the fourth goal of the Agenda established by the United Nations, which seeks Quality Education to ensure the sustainable development of countries.

The measurement invariance of job diagnostic survey (JDS) across three university student groups
(OmniaScience, 2016) Martínez Gómez, Mónica; Marín García, Juan Antonio; Girado O'Meara, Martha; Dpto. de Organización de Empresas; Facultad de Administración y Dirección de Empresas; Dpto. de Estadística e Investigación Operativa Aplicadas y Calidad; Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería Industrial; Centro de Gestión de la Calidad y del Cambio; Grupo de Investigación en Reingeniería, Organización, trabajo en Grupo y Logística Empresarial - ROGLE
[EN] Purpose: The main purpose of this study is to apply a multigroup confirmatory analysis to examine the measurement invariance (MI) of the adapted version of the Job Diagnosis Survey (JDS) as a measurement tool that analyses the relationship between the features of teaching methodologies with university students’ motivation and satisfaction across data collected on different degrees and academic years. Design/methodology/approach: Confirmatory factor analysis was carried out using a multigroup structural equation model, using the program EQS 6.1 to test the invariance of the adapted version of JDS in a sample constituted by 535 student of a Spanish public university. The assessment of invariance included the levels of configural, metric, scalar, covariance and latent variables invariance. Several goodness-of-fit measures were assessed. Findings: The results show that measurements are equivalent at the configural, metric, covariance and latent factors invariance. Although the hypotheses of scalar invariance is rejected, results suggest that JDS is partial strict invariant and has satisfactory psychometric properties on all samples. Research limitations/implications: The sample is framed in university students aged between 18 and 30 and for a questionnaire on teaching methodology and students' satisfaction in the context of a Spanish university and the generalization to other questionnaire, or population, should be proved with specific data. Furthermore, the sample size is rather small. Originality/value: In the current process of change that is taking place in universities according to the plan developed by the European Space of Higher Education, focused on increasing the student skills, validate instruments as the satisfaction scale of JDS, are necessary to evaluate students’ satisfaction with new active methodologies. These findings are useful for researchers since they add the first sample in which the MI of a student’s satisfaction survey is tested.

(MDPI AG, 2017-08-11) Visbal-Cadavid, Delimiro; Martínez Gómez, Mónica; Guijarro Martínez, Francisco; Facultad de Administración y Dirección de Empresas; Dpto. de Estadística e Investigación Operativa Aplicadas y Calidad; Dpto. de Economía y Ciencias Sociales; Instituto Universitario de Matemática Pura y Aplicada; Centro de Gestión de la Calidad y del Cambio; Generalitat Valenciana
[EN] This paper presents the results of an efficiency study of Colombian public universities in 2012, conducted using the methodology of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and the models CCR, BCC and SBM under output orientation. The main objective is to determine technical, pure technical, scale and mix efficiencies using data acquired from the Ministry of National Education. An analysis of the results shows the extent to which outputs of inefficient Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) could be improved and the possible cause of this inefficiency. The universities were also ranked using a Pareto efficient cross-efficiency model and a study was made of changes to overall productivity between 2011 and 2012. The results showed Tolima, Caldas and UNAD to be the best-performing universities, with Universidad del Pacífico as the worst performer. Malmquist index was applied to analyze the change in productivity from 2011 to 2012. The Universidad de La Guajira showed great improvement in technical efficiency between 2011 and 2012.

(Editorial Universitat Politècnica de València, 2019-07-05) Visbal Cadavid, Delimiro; Martínez Gómez, Mónica; Escorcia-Caballero, Rolando; Facultad de Administración y Dirección de Empresas; Dpto. de Estadística e Investigación Operativa Aplicadas y Calidad; Centro de Gestión de la Calidad y del Cambio
[EN] This work applies the Multiple Factor Analysis (MFA) as an exploratory methodology to analize the indicators of the education´s management that belong to 32 Colombian public Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) along the year 2013. The product of this work indicates that the majority of HEIs have similar structures, being different and better scored the following: La Universidad Nacional (UNAL), Antioquia (UDEA), Nacional Abierta y a Distancia (UNAD), Pamplona y del Valle. Also the UDEA has a high development in extension, formation, capacity and research which is considered one of the best HEIS in the country. The university of Valle has a high degree of welfare, formation and extension, besides moderate capacities on research in comparission with the UDEA wich is superior to the rest of the HEIs. Pamplona has too a high level of formation, extension and moderate weflare, research and capacity in relation to the UNAD. It worth to mention that UNAL is the best located on extension. However, it is surpassed by other University (UDEA) because has a better development in some variables associated to research and extension. To finish, there are other HEIs with too many weaknesses on the indicators of the education´s management wich are UFPS Ocaña, Sucre and Pacifico. These universities show certain problems of research, extension and capacity, but fundamentally strong shortcomings in formation and welfare.
