[EN] Purpose: The main purpose of this study is to apply a multigroup confirmatory analysis to examine the measurement invariance (MI) of the adapted version of the Job Diagnosis Survey (JDS) as a measurement tool that analyses the relationship between the features of teaching methodologies with university students’ motivation and satisfaction across data collected on different degrees and academic years. Design/methodology/approach: Confirmatory factor analysis was carried out using a multigroup structural equation model, using the program EQS 6.1 to test the invariance of the adapted version of JDS in a sample constituted by 535 student of a Spanish public university. The assessment of invariance included the levels of configural, metric, scalar, covariance and latent variables invariance. Several goodness-of-fit measures were assessed. Findings: The results show that measurements are equivalent at the configural, metric, covariance and latent factors invariance. Although the hypotheses of scalar invariance is rejected, results suggest that JDS is partial strict invariant and has satisfactory psychometric properties on all samples. Research limitations/implications: The sample is framed in university students aged between 18 and 30 and for a questionnaire on teaching methodology and students' satisfaction in the context of a Spanish university and the generalization to other questionnaire, or population, should be proved with specific data. Furthermore, the sample size is rather small. Originality/value: In the current process of change that is taking place in universities according to the plan developed by the European Space of Higher Education, focused on increasing the student skills, validate instruments as the satisfaction scale of JDS, are necessary to evaluate students’ satisfaction with new active methodologies. These findings are useful for researchers since they add the first sample in which the MI of a student’s satisfaction survey is tested.

Redesigning work in university classrooms: factors related to satisfaction in engineering and business administration students
(OmniaScience, 2014) Marín García, Juan Antonio; Martínez Gómez, Mónica; Giraldo O’Meara, Martha; Dpto. de Organización de Empresas; Facultad de Administración y Dirección de Empresas; Dpto. de Estadística e Investigación Operativa Aplicadas y Calidad; Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería Industrial; Centro de Gestión de la Calidad y del Cambio; Grupo de Investigación en Reingeniería, Organización, trabajo en Grupo y Logística Empresarial - ROGLE
Purpose: We analyze how it affects the teaching model to motivational potential of the course and student satisfaction. Design/methodology: Using structural equation modeling (SEM) has analyzed data from a cross-section (2008, 2009 and 2010) of 535 students of industrial engineering and business administration, a Spanish public university. Findings: The results, using a validated instrument adapted to the teaching world, demonstrate the association between the characteristics of the type of student work, the motivating potential of the subject and satisfaction. Research limitations/implications: The Identity scale does not have good fit and the results should be considered tentative. The sample is limited and does not allow to generalize the findings, it should be extended in the future to include other universities and graduate students. Originality/value: This work confirm that the JDS model adapted to teaching is met. We found that the variety, identity, significance, autonomy, job feedback and social feedback are elements of a second-order construct representing the motivating potential of the subject and that the values of this construct are positively related, significantly and substantially to the overall satisfaction perceived by the student. We have also found that these relationships are maintained on samples of students from different years or rather different degrees. As a result, education professionals can use the model for analysis and redesign of jobs to help foster motivation and student satisfaction. Validation of the JDS satisfaction scales applied to educational university environments
(OmniaScience, 2014) Giraldo O'Meara, Martha Marcela; Marín García, Juan Antonio; Martínez Gómez, Mónica; Dpto. de Organización de Empresas; Facultad de Administración y Dirección de Empresas; Dpto. de Estadística e Investigación Operativa Aplicadas y Calidad; Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería Industrial; Centro de Gestión de la Calidad y del Cambio; Grupo de Investigación en Reingeniería, Organización, trabajo en Grupo y Logística Empresarial - ROGLE; Universitat Politècnica de València
[EN] Purpose: The aim of this study is to review and summarize the main satisfaction scales used in publications about human Resource Management and educational research, in order to adapt the satisfaction scales of the Job Diagnostic Survey (JDS) to higher education and validate it with a sample of university students and to assess the concept of satisfaction in two different ways: as a single-item measure, with a global indicator and as a multi-item measure, analyzed as a global model and composed by several scales. Design/methodology/approach: Confirmatory factor analysis with maximum likelihood, using structural equations model, was employed to assess the model fit in 152 business management undergraduates. Findings and originality/value: The satisfaction model measured as multi-item scale present an acceptable fit. Even though, some of the satisfaction scales did not present a satisfactory fit, they can be used and interpreted independently with carefulness. Nevertheless, the satisfaction single-item scale presents a better fit and has been validated as a simpler and less costly measure of satisfaction.

Testing invariance between web and paper students satisfaction surveys. A case study
(Omnia Publisher SL, 2017) Martínez Gómez, Mónica; Marín García, Juan Antonio; Giraldo-O'Meara, Martha Marcela; Dpto. de Organización de Empresas; Facultad de Administración y Dirección de Empresas; Dpto. de Estadística e Investigación Operativa Aplicadas y Calidad; Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería Industrial; Centro de Gestión de la Calidad y del Cambio; Grupo de Investigación en Reingeniería, Organización, trabajo en Grupo y Logística Empresarial - ROGLE; Generalitat Valenciana
[EN] Purpose: This paper studied the measurement invariance (MI) across web-based and paper-based surveys to evidence if both techniques of data collection can be regarded as equivalent. Design/methodology: We develop a multigroup confirmatory factor analysis (MGCFA) with Maximum Likelihood Estimation to asses measurement invariance of the Job Diagnostic Survey (JDS) adapted to teaching, with data collected from paper and web surveys. Sample from paper surveys was constituted by 294 student of a Spanish public university in the academic years 2007-08, 2008-09 and 2009-10. Internet surveys were administered through an open source survey application called Lime Survey. We received 241 completed questionnaires. Findings: Results show that metric invariance, covariance invariance, variance of latent factors invariance and measurement errors invariance can be established between two groups. We can conclude that both methods of collecting data can be considered equivalent. Research limitations/implications: This study was done with a particular sample and strict focus questionnaire and we might not generalize the findings. It should be extended in the future to include other universities and graduate students. Originality/value: Results showed that the factor structures remained invariant across the internet-based and paper-based groups, that is to say, both methods of collecting data can be considered equivalent, with the same factor structure, factor loadings, measurement errors of factors and the same reliability. These findings are useful for researchers since they add a new sample in which web and paper questionnaires are equivalent and for teachers to desire to change the teaching methodology at university, encourage students' participation and teamwork through active methodologies.

A quantitative study on mobile services aimed at children and self-regulation in Spain
(Springer Verlag (Germany), 2011-10) Miguel Molina, Maria Rosario de; Martínez Gómez, Mónica; Miguel Molina, María Blanca de; Ribes Giner, Gabriela; Dpto. de Organización de Empresas; Facultad de Administración y Dirección de Empresas; Dpto. de Estadística e Investigación Operativa Aplicadas y Calidad; Centro de Gestión de la Calidad y del Cambio; Generalitat Valenciana
This paper is part of a research project which highlights the legal and ethical problems of mobile services aimed at children in Spain. The aim of the paper is to offer practical advice on self-regulation in the mobile telephone sector in Spain and to suggest measures that companies could adopt to protect children more effectively. A multivariate statistical analysis was carried out on the results of confidential surveys sent to companies, government agencies and child protection associations in order to establish the key issues to be taken into consideration when drawing up a collective agreement. Children have access to a wide range of services via their mobile phones. We question the suitability of these services and whether the age of the children should be verified before access to these services is allowed. Company policy should include the drawing up of codes of conduct along the lines of the agreement signed by the leading European mobile phone operators. © 2011 Springer Science+Business Media B.V.

A Comparative Empirical Study on Mobile ICT Services, Social Responsibility and the Protection of Children
(Springer Verlag (Germany), 2011-06) Miguel Molina, Maria Rosario de; Martínez Gómez, Mónica; Dpto. de Organización de Empresas; Facultad de Administración y Dirección de Empresas; Dpto. de Estadística e Investigación Operativa Aplicadas y Calidad; Centro de Gestión de la Calidad y del Cambio; Generalitat Valenciana
[EN] The purpose of this paper is to analyse the Spanish mobile phone industry to determine how mobile phone companies and certain institutions can improve protection for children who use mobile phones. We carried out a multivariate statistical analysis using anonymous primary data from mobile phone companies, and institutions and associations that protect children, to compare these stakeholders’ opinions and to put forward solutions. We proved that, even though some European countries have made an effort to provide safer ICT services, all stakeholders still need to cooperate and agree on solutions to the commercial problems associated with children using mobile phones. This can be done by signing codes of conduct. We found that even though some companies implement measures to protect children from accessing harmful content via their mobile phones, they do so for reasons of legal and not social responsibility
