Environmental and social ideal price establishment for the irrigation water by means of the internalisation of the environmental costs and the use of social accounting matrix. Application to Navarre
    (2003) Elorrieta, J.I.; Castellano, E.; Martínez De Anguita, P.; Pellitero, M.; Rey, C.
[EN] This work develops a methodology to obtain a “social ad environmental optimal price” for water in the Comunidad Foral de Navarra (CFN) in order to maximize the internalization of the water environmental cost generated by agricultural consumption without affecting the general level of the regional economy. The economical model is built over a Geographical Information System (GIS) that allows quantifying and valuing in economical terms environmental water costs in different basins. Elements that have been considered to describe the water resource value are volume, quality and hazard to affect aquatic and bank ecosystems. Values have been estimated with Environmental Economy methods. A demand curve for water is also built and a Social Accounting Matrix (SAM) is used to watch if regional economy supports a price that internalizes total water value. Potential water prices are established ranging from prices that minimize negative economic regional impacts –social optimal priceto those that internalize totally the environmental costs of water- environmetnal optimal price.

The regional demand of alcoholic beverages. Impact of an increase in the special taxe
(2003) López Díaz-Delgado, Elena; González, María A.; Fellinger, Erica
[EN] This study analyzes the different responses in the consumption of alcoholic beverages by regions in Spain to changes in levels of prices and income. To this end income and price elasticities have been estimated for three ty pes of alcoholic beverages (wine, beer, and "other alcoholic drinks") through a complete AIDS-type demand system, using a panel of annual data from 1993 to 2000 for eight Spanish regions. The results of this study indicate that there are important differences in the household consumption and responses of alcoholic beverages among different regions, particularly regarding the consumption of wine and beer between the northern and southern halves of the peninsula. On the basis of these results regional returns from excise taxes and VAT have been simulated according to different tax scenarios.

The quality costs in the citrus companies and it identification in the frame of the cost system based on the activities
(2003) Server Izquierdo, Ricardo J.; Mateos Ronco, Alicia
[EN] Within the more and more demanding markets, companies’ competitiveness policies need strategies which fulfil customers’ demands. Spanish citrus companies, whose products present almost any difference, base their competitiveness on producing quality goods and meeting with the customers’ requirements. However, these companies use no quantitative valuations of quality. For this reason, it is necessary a methodology to evaluate and quantify the quality costs, in order to support the quality improvement programmes in the company. In this paper we suggest the use of the activity cost system methodology to determine the quality costs.

Prices transmition on the lamb regional markets in Spain
    (2003) Boshnjaku, L.; Ben-Kaabia, B.; Gil, José M.
[EN] The analysis of price relationships in commodity markets provides an approximate idea on markets performance as well as allows the researcher to analyze price responses to unanticipated shocks. The objective of this paper is to explore price relationships in geographical separated markets in the Spanish lamb sector. The methodology used is based on the specification of multivariate time series models which are flexible enough to take into account the stochastic properties of data, the multivariate nature of price relationships and to distinguish between short- and long-run horizons. Results indicate that lamb markets in Spain are strongly related being Zafra the leading market. The influence of Zafra is substantial in the southern markets while in the North, the Lonja del Ebro could be considered as the most representative market.

Milk cuota value estimation in the Galician dairy farms
(2003) de Miguel Domínguez, José Carlos; Pérez Vidal, Tomás; Rodríguez González, Xosé Antón
[EN] The level of milk quota for farm and the transfer of milk quota among producers play are principal factors in the Spain milk producer sector adjustment. This paper presents an estimation of milk quota value, estimation of the capitalization of quota value in the 2006 year horizon and make concrete some determinant factors of quota value. Estimates derive from a sample of 32 Galician dairy farms for the years 1990-1999, and from the results of this paper is possible deduce conclusions about functioning quota market and management of quota policy.
