- Publication"Habitações": reflexiones acerca de una serie fotográfica autoral(Editorial Universitat Politècnica de València, 2017-10-23) Gomes Perez Vieira, Karine[EN] This article is about "Habitações", photographic series resulting from a doctoral research in Visual Arts, in the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil), advised by Sandra Rey. The series began during an internship at the Universitat Politècnica de València (Spain), co-oriented by Josepa López Poquet. Its continuation occurred motivated by change of residence and reverberations caused by trips. The artistic process consisted in self-portrait me in domestic environments of temporary stay, trying to explore the expressive possibilities of these spaces and their objects, in contact with the body. I established repetitive and obsessive modes of operation, following the same procedure, but in different temporalities and places. I refer to the fact that the body appears, in all images, lying down and covered with vegetables and/or textiles objects, suggesting, sometimes, forms of a landscape. All the works are entitled with names of real or imaginary places. But the words contained in the titles and the images offered to the look do not match each other, making possible subjective associations that follow only the laws of the imagination, because what is portrayed is my body covered with sheets, duvets, mantles and various textile objects, adhered to the skin. The choice of these materials implies the appropriation of industrialized surfaces, already crowded with information, symptomatic of a homogenization of these spaces and identities, typical of the globalized culture. Then, the series imposes questions about the surface and the physical appearances of the visible things; it tensions a universe of simple materials, almost insignificant, by its recurrence and triviality in the residences. The challenge is to search the difference in repetition, heterogeneity in the homogeneity, ipseity in the sameness, the subjective in the objective, the singularization in the standardization. Therefore, it is possible to extract material for artistic creation.
